Wabasha Street Caves is a brick building built into sandstone caves along the Mississippi River that was once the site of the famous nightclub "The Castle Royal," a hangout for infamous gangsters of the 1930s. The building is comprised of dance floor, stage, dining area, meeting area and bar. Today, patrons may enjoy swing nights, evenings of big band music and tours of the historic venue. Situated in downtown Saint Paul, the caves are close to Cherokee Regional Park.
Historic cave tour: Thurs. at 5:00 p.m.; Sat. - Sun. at 11:00 a.m. Gangster tour: Sun. at noon
